Wade's All-Star Weekend - 2012
Orlando, FL
In 2007, the NBA chose New Orleans, Louisiana as the host city for the annual All Star Weekend Game and events. In an effort to assist with the rebuilding process of a community that was severely devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Wade’s World Foundation responded with a series of events and donations to aid it's recovery. Such began Wade's World Foundation's All Star Weekend endeavors that are devoted to strengthening communities within the host city and leaving a lasting legacy.
Last year, they collaborated with MLA Partner Schools of Los Angeles. It was there that Wade unveiled a brand new girls basketball court and a contribution of $100,000 to aid in the educational and health advancements of its' students. In 2012, Dwyane Wade and Wades World Foundation collaborated with Kingdom Courts to refurbish two basketball courts in the Tangelo Park community within Orlando. Wade's World also sponsored a "Work Hard, Play Hard" rally at Tangelo Park Elementary to reward the students and staff for their academic achievements and remind them of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Dwyane also presented Tangelo Park Elementary with $100,000 to assist with fulfilling the educational needs and progression of its' students.
